On November 2 deputies apprehended Brian M. Shimer following a reported motor vehicle larceny.
A woman had reported her car missing after lending it to a friend, identified as Shimer, who failed to return it. The investigation was launched after the victim contacted the authorities regarding her unreturned vehicle.
New York State Police subsequently discovered the vehicle at the Pit Stop in the Village of Port Byron and executed a traffic stop. It was confirmed that Shimer was behind the wheel. Cayuga County Deputies arrived at the traffic stop site and took Shimer into custody, charging him with the unauthorized use of a vehicle in the third degree.
Shimer was processed for the charge and was issued an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear before the Village of Port Byron Court on the evening of November 14th to address the charges against him.
