Two women from Rochester have pleaded guilty to orchestrating a theft operation that resulted in the loss of over $166,000 in merchandise from Ulta Beauty stores in the Erie County area.
The duo, 24-year-old Kashmonay Holley and 23-year-old Nahzaire Murray, conducted their high-value thefts between March and August, according to prosecutors.
The authorities have also identified Holley and Murray as potential suspects in a series of similar incidents across neighboring counties, suggesting a broader pattern of retail thefts. The scope of their activities highlights the challenges retailers face with organized shoplifting operations.
Sentencing for the two women is set for the following month after both admitted to charges of grand larceny. The guilty pleas mark a significant development in efforts to curtail retail theft rings that significantly impact businesses.
