  • Staff Report

The YMCA of Central New York has officially appointed Josh Royce as its new president and chief executive officer, following an extensive nationwide search.

Royce, a resident of Baldwinsville, had been fulfilling the role on an interim basis since July and was the organization’s chief operating officer prior to his interim appointment. His dedication and over two decades of service to the YMCA solidified his position as the top candidate in the eyes of the search committee and the board of directors.

Board Chair and Chief Volunteer Officer, Bishop Colette Matthews-Carter, expressed high confidence in Royce’s capability to navigate the YMCA of CNY into a promising future. Matthews-Carter highlighted Royce’s business savvy, critical decision-making skills, and his infectious enthusiasm for the organization’s mission as key factors in his appointment. The board’s decision was unanimous, reflecting the diligent work and commitment of the co-chairs and search committee in this pivotal selection.

As the YMCA of CNY enters a new chapter under Royce’s leadership, the organization continues to manage the Auburn YMCA-WEIU as part of an agreement established in July. Royce’s vision for the YMCA and his established record of leadership are anticipated to herald a period of growth and continued service to the community.
