The New York Mets have found their new manager.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported Monday afternoon that the Mets have hired Carlos Mendoza as their next manager. The deal is approximately $4.5 million over three years, with a club option for a fourth year.
Mendoza, 43, spent 15 seasons as a coach in the Yankees organization, most recently serving as Aaron Boone’s right-hand man since 2018.
The Mets had interviewed Brewers manager Craig Counsell, but he decided to join the Chicago Cubs in a stunning move.
