The Rawlings Gold Glove winners were announced Sunday night, and New York Yankees rookie shortstop Anthony Volpe won the award at his respective position.
Volpe earned the nod over Minnesota’s Carlos Correa and Texas’ Corey Seager.
The 22-year-old was second in the AL among shortstops with 15 defensive runs saved, just one behind Wander Franco. It’s also 10-plus more than the other two shortstops in the category, Seager (5) and Correa (-2).
Volpe is the first Yankees rookie to win a Gold Glove and the first Yankee to win one at shortstop since Derek Jeter in 2010.
