Ithaca police arrest man for early-morning burglary

Ithaca Police apprehended a man following a burglary at a local business on West State Street early Wednesday morning. Responding to a call at about 4:00 a.m., officers discovered that the suspect had broken a window to gain entry into the establishment, subsequently moving various items outside before re-entering to take more goods.

The individual, identified as 30-year-old Richard M. Howells of Ithaca was located by police shortly after the incident and arrested without further incident. Charged with third-degree burglary, a Class D felony, Howells was arraigned in Ithaca City Court and released on his own recognizance, pending a future court appearance.
