Leonard’s Express, a prominent transportation service provider, has been named a 2023 “Top Company for Women to Work For in Transportation” by Redefining the Road, the official magazine of the Women In Trucking Association (WIT).

WIT aims to boost female employment in trucking, highlight their achievements, and address challenges they encounter. Leonard’s Express, known for refrigerated trucking, dry van, warehousing, and freight brokerage services, was recognized for fostering a supportive work environment for women.

The accolade reflects a company’s commitment to gender diversity, equitable compensation, benefits, flexible working conditions, and opportunities for professional growth and career advancement. The selection process was twofold: a review of nominations to ensure they meet specific criteria and an industry-wide vote that drew over 27,000 participants to finalize the list of honorees.

Leonard’s Express leadership expressed pride in the recognition, attributing its corporate culture to the influence of co-founder Patricia Johnson, a pioneer in the field and a champion of inclusivity. Executive Chairman Ken Johnson, along with his brothers and co-owners Kyle and Kevin, continue their mother’s legacy, underscoring the essential role women have in their company. Earlier this year, WIT acknowledged Leonard’s Express Director of Fleet Safety Katie Griffin as a Top Woman to Watch in Transportation, and driver Ann McFarland as a finalist for Driver of the Year. The award recipients will be honored at the WIT Accelerate! Conference & Expo on November 5th in Dallas.
