The City of Ithaca has named John Poleway and Thomas Kelly as the two final candidates for the position of chief of police.
A community meet-and-greet is scheduled for November 2, allowing residents to interact with both hopefuls.
The event is part of the city’s transparent selection process following last year’s unsuccessful search.
Poleway, the ex-chief of Larchmont’s police, and Kelly, a Schenectady lieutenant with two decades of service and recent FBI training, emerged as top choices from seven interviewed by the search committee.
The city hopes this new search will conclude successfully, with community engagement at its core.
