Geneva City Council has finalized the 2024 budget, endorsing a $19.38 million spending plan without increasing the tax rate.
The decision came after a 6-2 vote on Wednesday, maintaining the tax rate at $17.25 per $1,000 of assessed property value.
The property tax levy will see a minimal rise from $8.42 million to $8.43 million, while water and sewer funds remain unchanged.
City Manager Amie Hendrix expressed satisfaction with the budget, which aims to address challenges such as declining infrastructure and financial strain on vulnerable populations without expanding city services.
