Butler man arrested for aggravated DWI in Cayuga County

Cayuga County authorities reported the arrest of a local man on charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated (DWI) in the early hours of Saturday.


Richard Robinson III, 48, of Butler, was stopped by deputies from the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Division for a traffic violation and subsequently arrested for alcohol impairment.

Robinson was pulled over on Beech Road near Canoga Road in the Town of Aurelius around 2 a.m. for speeding and failing to maintain his lane. The subsequent investigation by a Cayuga County Deputy determined Robinson’s alcohol impairment, leading to his arrest on charges of aggravated DWI with no prior offenses, first-offense DWI, and other related vehicle and traffic infractions.

Following his arrest, Robinson was processed at the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office. He has been issued Uniform Traffic Tickets (UTT’s) and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Aurelius Court on November 15th at 7:00 PM. The Sheriff’s report provided no further details on the circumstances leading to Robinson’s arrest or any additional charges.
