A Dollar General employee in Waverly has been charged with felony grand larceny for allegedly stealing over $12,000 from the store, authorities reported. Ashley J. Mathews, a 37-year-old resident of Gillett, faced charges on October 25 following an investigation into missing cash deposits.
The Waverly Police Department arrested Mathews after a Dollar General regional loss prevention manager discovered discrepancies in the store’s cash deposits and reported the issue to law enforcement. According to police reports, the stolen cash deposits amounted to $12,629.92.
After her arrest, Mathews was processed and appeared before the Village of Waverly Justice Court on October 26. She was issued an appearance ticket and subsequently released by the court, pending further proceedings.
