Sabres defenseman Connor Clifton suspended two games for illegal check to head (video)

The Buffalo Sabres will be without one of their top six defensemen for the next two games. 

The NHL’s Department of Player Safety announced Saturday that Connor Clifton has received a two-game suspension for an illegal check to the head on New Jersey Devils forward Nico Hischier. 

The incident occurred during Friday’s game at 15:57 of the first period.

This suspension means Clifton will Sunday’s home game vs. the Colorado Avalanche and Wednesday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers. 

Jacob Bryson, who has been a healthy scratch for the first eight games, is expected to slide into the lineup.
