State police arrested a 56-year-old Auburn man, James M. Russell, in connection with sexual assault reports from several years ago.
In August 2023, authorities from both Auburn and Waterloo barracks received complaints from a female juvenile and a female adult, alleging that Russell had assaulted them in the past.
The investigation revealed that Russell, a long-haul trucker, was out of the state at the time of the reports. However, he returned to New York on Oct. 11 and was promptly apprehended at the Petro truck stop in Tyre.
Russell faces charges of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, a class B felony, as filed in Hector Town Court in Schuyler County.
