Deputies: Auburn man faces felony charges after contacting protected party from jail

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s office reports the arrest of an Auburn man on two charges – including a felony following an investigation into an incident at the Cayuga County Jail.


Diondrie Smith, 22, of Auburn is accused of contacting a protected party while he was in custody at the jail.

Smith was charged with criminal contempt and aggravated family offense, the later of which is a felony.

The charges will be answered at a later date.
