The Buffalo Sabres capped off a four-game homestand with a 3-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Monday, dropping to 2-4-0 on the season.
Jeff Skinner scored the lone goal on the power play seven minutes into the first period, but aside from that, Buffalo couldn’t muster any more offense despite outshooting Montreal 37-27.
Overall, the Sabres went 1-for-5 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.
Eric Comrie stopped 24-of-27 shots in his second start this season, while Dylan Cozens and Rasmus Dahlin notched assists on Skinner’s third goal.
The Sabres will try to rebound quickly as they head to Ottawa to take on the Senators on Tuesday at 6:45 p.m.
