Sabres top Islanders in Eric Comrie’s season debut

The Buffalo Sabres got back in the win column Saturday night with a 3-1 victory over the New York Islanders at KeyBank Center, improving to 2-3-0 on the season.

Eric Comrie made his season debut for Buffalo and was terrific between the pipes, stopping 24-of-25 shots. The only shot that got past him went off defenseman Connor Clifton’s shoulder with under two minutes remaining in the contest.

Jeff Skinner, Mattias Samuelsson, and Dylan Cozens scored for the Sabres. Casey Mittelstadt tallied a pair of assists.

Buffalo went 0-for-3 on the man advantage and a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.

The Sabres will wrap up their four-game homestand on Monday when they face the Montreal Canadiens. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
