The Buffalo Sabres continued their four-game homestand on Thursday night and came out on the losing end, falling 4-3 to the Calgary Flames. With the loss, Buffalo dropped to 1-3-0 on the season.

The Sabres erased three deficits to tie the game at three but could not erase a fourth as Calgary’s Adam Ruzicka scored the go-ahead goal on a bad-angle shot 4:35 into the third period, lifting the Flames to victory.

Tage Thompson, JJ Peterka, and Erik Johnson scored for the Sabres, who never held a lead. Rookie Devon Levi turned aside 33 shots.

Buffalo went 1-for-5 on the man advantage and a perfect 5-for-5 on the penalty kill.

Box Score

The Sabres will try to secure their second win of the season on Saturday when they host the New York Islanders at 7 p.m.
