  • Staff Report

The Geneva City Democratic Committee is gearing up to host a candidates’ forum on October 24, focusing on the Democratic contenders vying for seats on the Geneva City Council and the position of County Supervisor.

Set to kick off at 7:00 p.m. at the Geneva Community Center, the event invites community members for a 6:15 p.m. meet-and-greet session with the candidates before the forum starts.

The event will be broadcasted live on the Geneva Democrats’ social media platforms, with the moderation duties entrusted to Ted Baker of Finger Lakes News Radio, community leader Patrisha Blue, and Jiangtao Harry Gu, HWS Assistant Professor of Media and Society.

Emphasizing a community-centric approach, the organizers encourage attendees and online viewers to submit questions for the candidates, either through email, writing at the event, or messaging on the livestream.

Questions will be curated and organized by the moderation team, ensuring diverse topics are covered.

All ten Democratic candidates have confirmed their attendance, and as Eileen Buckley, chair of the city’s Democratic Committee, noted, they are eager to engage with the public on pressing issues. The decision for this forum came about after the Geneva Chapter of the League of Women Voters’ proposed forums were shelved due to limited participation from the Republican Party’s candidates.
