It took three games, but the Buffalo Sabres are finally in the win column as they picked up a 3-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night at KeyBank Center, thanks to Dylan Cozens, who netted the game-winner in overtime.
Cozens scored with a wrist shot from high in the right face-off circle that went in off the left post at 1:46 of OT, his first goal of the season.
This came after the Lightning tied the game at two with seven seconds remaining in regulation. Brandon Hagel jammed in a puck at the side of the net, notching his second of the contest.
Zemgus Girgensons and Jeff Skinner also found the back of the net for Buffalo, while Devon Levi made 21 saves between the pipes.
The Sabres will continue a four-game homestand Thursday when they welcome the Calgary Flames to town. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
