Pit bull attacks prompt safety concerns at Sodus mobile home park

Tensions are high at North Bay Estates Mobile Home Park after a second resident was attacked by a pit bull, according to new reporting by The Times of Wayne County over the weekend.

On October 1, Evelyn Lewandow was unexpectedly assaulted by the dog, owned by Harliegh Jones, while disposing of garbage. The dog inflicted significant wounds on Lewandow’s legs, resulting in her hospitalization at Strong Memorial Hospital.

The attack prompted a response from the local dog warden, who issued a quarantine order for the pit bull, confining it within Jones’ residence or requiring it to be leashed outside.

This wasn’t the dog’s first incident, though. Last May, another resident was assaulted by the same pit bull, sustaining 22 puncture wounds and undergoing a series of rabies shots when it was found the dog hadn’t been vaccinated.

Seniors who live in the area are reportedly concerned for their safety. Town officials confirmed that a hearing is scheduled on the matter.
