Man held on bail after threatening group with knife, fleeing police into wooded area in Ithaca

An Ithaca man was taken into custody after he apparently tried to fight people in the area of Abbott Lane in Ithaca while possessing a knife.

Police arrived on-scene shortly after 8 p.m. to learn Alexander Mosher, 33, of Ithaca had fled into a nearby wooded area after the incident.

A brief foot chase ensued, but Mosher was taken into custody.

He was charged with two counts of menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. All of the charges are felony counts, police said.

He was held on bail after the incident at the Tompkins County Jail.
