The Finger Lakes Community College men’s soccer team traveled to Tompkins Cortland Community College for a pivotal NJCAA Region III matchup with the Panthers on the TC Turf Field Saturday afternoon. The Lakers who stand at #8 in the NJCAA Region III rankings looked to pick up a win over the Panthers who hold the spot above them at #7. Leading goal scorer Daniel Medina (Mexico City, Mexico/ Tec Monterrey Santa Fe) scored a brace for the Lakers to increase his season tally to 10. Teammates Riley Green (London, England/ Ben Herd Pro Performance Academy) and Vojtech Bartosek (Prague, Czech Republic/ Anglicko-Ceske Gymnazium Amazon) each scored in the match with Bartosek adding an assist to his tally.

Teammates Edwin Cruz (Tulca, Mexico/ Instituto Mexcio de Toluca) and Juan Mercado Cano(Toluca, Mexico/ Unitec) showed their skills as the team’s playmakers, each adding an assist to the stat column.

The Lakers pulled off another impressive win and continue to improve as they approach the NJCAA Region III tournament. The team will face their next test on Wednesday, October 11th when they face the Niagara County Community College Thunderwolves on the Lakers home turf at 5 PM. The team will vie to earn their 5th straight victory in the match.
