New York has initiated its application process for those aiming to enter the state’s burgeoning cannabis sector, with the window open until December 4.
The Office of Cannabis Management anticipates a surge of applications expecting “tens of thousands” from across the nation.
The office plans to issue between 1,000 to 1,500 adult-use cannabis licenses, half of which are designated for new retail dispensaries, alongside licenses for indoor cultivation, processing, distribution, and microbusinesses.
Applicants with secured locations for dispensaries or microbusinesses are encouraged to apply by November 3 to expedite their applications.
Governor Kathy Hochul emphasized her administration’s commitment to eradicating illegal cannabis sales while prioritizing the safety of the community and boosting local businesses.
