Police have apprehended two men believed to be behind several vehicle thefts and a residential burglary in Corning.
Following a string of reported thefts from vehicles throughout September, Corning Police launched an investigation that led to the arrest of 18-year-old Manuel Colon Jr. of Corning and 21-year-old Malik Smith of Rochester.
On Sept. 29, a search warrant executed at an East Third St. residence yielded a significant quantity of stolen property, which police confirm is connected to the reported thefts.
Both Colon and Smith are facing charges of second-degree burglary.
After processing, they were handed over to the Steuben County Jail, where they await trial on bail. Amidst these events, the Corning Police Department has urged the community to adopt preventive measures, emphasizing the importance of securing vehicles and homes.
