The League of Women Voters (LWV) of Geneva announced the cancellation of their scheduled Candidates’ Forums for the upcoming city elections.
The decision came after most of the races did not meet the League’s “No Empty Chair Policy.”
This policy mandates at least two candidates for each seat up for election to participate in the forum.
With the LWV’s forums off the table, Geneva’s Democratic Party has already initiated plans for hosting their own candidate forum on Oct. 24, while Republican representatives are considering partnering with the Hobart and William Smith debate team for a separate event.
FingerLakes1.com will be featuring one-on-one interviews with many candidates running for office in Geneva. Both mayoral candidates will be in-studio, and most city council candidates will also be interviewed before Election Day.
