A homecoming concert featuring renowned electronic dance music DJ Steve Aoki at Cornell University’s Zeta Beta Tau fraternity last Thursday night resulted in multiple police calls and property damage concerns.
The Ithaca Voice reports Acting Chief Ted Schwartz said his department received several calls related to the event, one alleging an altercation between students and a nearby resident who accused them of trespassing and property damage.
By Friday afternoon, the IPD had not made arrests or issued citations related to the event.
Although the city granted a conditional permit for the concert, police arrived near midnight to aid the fraternity’s security in ending the event. A representative from Cornell stated that the university’s police did not assist and confirmed that the concert adhered to city event protocols.
