The Powerball jackpot has surged to a staggering estimated $1.2 billion, following no jackpot winners in Monday night’s drawing.
The numbers for the Oct. 2 drawing were 12, 26, 27, 43, 47 with the Powerball at 5.
Although the grand prize went unclaimed, there were winners of other significant sums: two individuals from Delaware and Michigan each secured a $1 million prize by matching the five white ball numbers, while players in New York and South Carolina who opted for the Power Play feature won $2 million apiece.
Wednesday night’s projected jackpot ranks among the top lottery awards in U.S. history.
The largest Powerball jackpot on record stands at $2.04 billion, won in California in November 2022. The current jackpot’s growth can be attributed to 33 successive drawings without a jackpot winner. The odds of securing the Powerball jackpot are exceedingly slim, at 1 in 292.2 million. Should a winner opt for a lump-sum payment for this upcoming draw, the estimated cash value is $551.7 million.
