Authorities in Wayne County say two Wolcott residents were arrested after a child abuse investigation.
On September 28 around 2:22 p.m. Vanessa Torrellas, 37, and Nicole Torrellas, 36, both of Wolcott were arrested for a felony count of endangering the welfare of an incompetent or disabled person.
It’s alleged that in January, a 5-year-old boy was brought to the hospital by Vanessa, and the child was significantly malnourished and ultimately had to be admitted to the ICU there.
Investigators determined that both Vanessa and Nicole were responsible for the child’s care and failed to provide it.
The two were released with appearance tickets and will answer the charges in Wolcott Town Court.
