Carlos Rodón made his last start of the 2023 season on Friday night at Kauffman Stadium, and it turned out to be one of the worst outings in Major League Baseball history.

Box Score

The left-hander faced eight batters and failed to record an out while allowing eight runs on six hits in the Yankees 12-5 series-opening loss to the Royals.

One bright spot in the game was Austin Wells, who lined a three-run home run, his fourth of the season, all of which have come in the last seven games. Wells later collected another RBI on a groundout. Aside from that, it was all Royals who pounded out 15 hits.

The Yankees will try to bounce back and even this three-game series on Saturday at 7:10 p.m.
