Bicyclist ticketed for crash involving car on 5&20 this past spring

Deputies gave an update on a crash that happened at the intersection of North Street and State Route 332 in Canandaigua on May 17 involving a bicyclist.

According to deputies, they responded a little after 5 p.m. that day for a car vs. bicycle accident.

Investigation determined that Sarah Ashley, 43, of Canandaigua was traveling south on Route 332 when an electric bicycle, operated by 73-year-old Thomas Writh, of Shortsville, attempted to cross.

He entered the path of Ashley’s vehicle, failing to yield the right of way and not using a designated crosswalk.

Writh was hospitalized but later released. He was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way.
