Wayne County will host snowmobile safety courses for youth operators

The Recreational Safety Division of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is set to provide the N.Y. State Snowmobile Safety Course. Aimed primarily at youth operators, this course is a prerequisite for anyone aged between 10 and 18 who has the desire to operate on public trails. This program is instrumental in ensuring the young operators are well-acquainted with the essential safety norms and operational procedures related to snowmobiling.


The instructional course is scheduled for November 4th, 2022, and will be held at Casey Park, located at 6551 Knickerbocker Rd., Ontario, NY. The training will commence at 8:30 am and is expected to conclude around 4:30 pm. Participants can secure their spot by making reservations through the provided link. Attendees are required to bring a pen and lunch. It is imperative for a parent or guardian to endorse their participation with a signature.

This course is a significant initiative by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office in reinforcing safety norms and operational guidelines for youth operators, ensuring a secure and enjoyable snowmobiling experience on public trails.
