Prosecutors say an inmate at the Auburn Correctional Facility has admitted to attacking officers there during a 2022 incident.

Dejour Nesmith, an inmate from Rochester currently serving a 23-year term at Auburn Correctional Facility, has pleaded guilty to three felony charges of attempted assault.

According to the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday, Nesmith admitted to injuring three officers during an altercation in the facility’s mess hall in August 2022.

With the recent guilty plea, Nesmith is facing an additional 3.5 to 7 years in prison. This new sentence will be served consecutively to his current 23-year term, as reported by the District Attorney’s office.
