The New York Mets (70-81) rallied and tied the game late but still suffered a 4-3 loss to the Miami Marlins (79-73) on Tuesday night at LoanDepot Park, evening the three-game series at a game apiece.
Down 3-1 with two outs in the top of the ninth inning, Brandon Nimmo smoked a game-tying two-run double to right field, his third hit of the game, but Trevor Gott gave up a walk-off RBI single to Jake Burger in the bottom of the frame.
Francisco Lindor plated the first run for the Mets with an infield RBI single.
Joey Lucchesi allowed three runs (two earned) over 5.2 innings.
The Mets will turn to Kodai Senga on Wednesday as they look to take two of three from the Marlins. The first pitch is slated for 6:40 p.m.
