A United States Postal Service (USPS) delivery vehicle ran a stop sign and crashed into a Toyota Prius at the intersection of East Street and Quaker Meeting House Road on Sunday morning, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The impact forced the postal vehicle onto the yard of a nearby house, though no property damage was reported.
The occupants of the Prius, a 74-year-old male driver and a 69-year-old female passenger, were transported to a local hospital due to complaints of pain.
The 28-year-old male USPS driver sustained minor injuries and was hospitalized; he was later cited for failing to stop at the intersection. Authorities confirmed that neither drugs nor alcohol played a role in the incident, and traffic in the area remained uninterrupted.
