Local law enforcement is seeking public assistance in identifying suspects linked to a series of larcenies at school events in Port Byron and Cato.
On September 15, several vehicles parked at Port Byron School were forcibly accessed with windows smashed and valuables taken from inside. These incidents occurred while owners attended sports and other gatherings at the school. Authorities believe the same suspects were involved in similar thefts at a Cato soccer game the previous night.
Images of the suspects and their vehicle have been released to the public. Anyone with information that might aid the investigation or can help identify the individuals in the photos is urged to contact Detective Dave Harkness at 315-294-8143. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office website.
In light of these events, officials are advising residents to refrain from leaving valuables inside unattended and locked vehicles.
