Wayne County announces pitch competition for aspiring entrepreneurs

The Wayne Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) is ramping up for its fifth annual Pitch Competition, a sought-after event providing early stage companies and startups in Wayne County a shot at a $20,000 startup grant. With the application deadline on September 29 at 4 p.m., businesses are also vying for the $5,000 award reserved for the runner-up. Participants are required to submit an executive summary of their business plan, three-year financial projections, and evidence of attending at least one SCORE workshop along with the standard application form and fee.

In an effort to foster young entrepreneurial talent, the competition is also open to high school students from grades 9 to 12. These budding business minds are encouraged to submit an executive summary and simplified financial projections. Their presentations are to be delivered through a 5-minute video by October 14th at 4:00 PM. A collective prize of $5,000 will be distributed among multiple student finalists.

The Pitch Competition, which has already funded over $100,000 to local businesses, is set to culminate on November 15th at the BOCES Conference Center in Newark, NY. Prospective participants and those seeking more information can visit www.WEDCny.com or contact the WEDC at 315-946-5919 or [email protected].
