New York remains the sole state requiring businesses to provide COVID-related sick pay, a mandate eliciting frustration from many business owners.

Many states that still require isolation from COVID stopped requiring businesses to pay its workers for any missed time.

In response to the concerns, legislators have proposed a bill that would evaluate the benefits and drawbacks of the COVID sick pay policy, potentially leading to its discontinuation if no state action is taken within 60 days.

Despite business complaints, the governor’s office reaffirmed its commitment to balancing business support with public health safety, noting the state’s provision of significant financial assistance for pandemic-related challenges.
