Auburn man charged with animal abuse after video surfaces on Facebook

An Auburn resident was taken into custody after a distressing video depicting dog abuse gained traction on Facebook.

Kyle James Fountaine, 29, was arrested on Sept. 6 on charges of torturing, injuring, or not feeding an animal, which is classified as a class A misdemeanor.

This incident came to light when a video was posted on Facebook on Aug. 27, showing a man assaulting a dog in a manner consistent with the allegations against Fountaine.


The video, which has been viewed approximately 3,000 times, was said to have been filmed at Fountaine’s residence on 3 Adams St. Officer Austin McDeid, in collaboration with Tom Adessa from the Finger Lakes SPCA of CNY, investigated the case.

Officials confirmed that the dog is now safe and has been placed in foster care.
