The New York State Fair, which wrapped up its 13-day streak on a sweltering Labor Day, welcomed over 900,000 attendees this year.
Officials reported a final count of 932,699, marking a noteworthy rebound in attendance following the pandemic.
While this year’s turnout didn’t match pre-pandemic levels, where the annual average from 2015-2019 stood at around 1.16 million, it demonstrated significant recovery.
The Fair had been on a trajectory of breaking attendance records each year from 2016 until its cancellation in 2020 due to Covid-19, with 2019 witnessing a peak of about 1.33 million visitors.
The last day’s sultry weather could have influenced the reduced footfall of 72,529, which was notably lower than weekend figures. Nevertheless, this year’s attendance surpassed last year’s by 50,000 and exceeded the 2021 count by over 134,000 attendees.
