Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard announced the arrest of Jamie S. Swanke, 42, of Geneseo on allegations of fraudulent claims to the county’s Department of Social Services.
Authorities contend that between October 2020 and June 2021, Swanke allegedly submitted two false documents, which led to her wrongfully obtaining benefits totaling $7,995.
Swanke faces charges of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a class E felony, and third-degree grand larceny, a class D felony.
Following her arraignment in the Centralized Arraignment Court on August 31, Swanke was released. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation with assistance from the county’s Department of Social Services Fraud and Legal Affairs Unit and the District Attorney’s Office.
