Avoca stabbing update: One treated at local hospital, second airlifted to Strong Hospital

On the evening of September 3 New York State Police in Bath rushed to a reported stabbing at 8077 Bauter Road in Avoca.

At the scene, they found two males, Richard M. Randall, 55, and Adam W. Rounds, 49, both with knife injuries.

The preliminary investigation suggests a fight broke out between the two roommates, resulting in their injuries.

Rounds was taken to Noyes Memorial Hospital and then moved to Strong Memorial Hospital, from where he was subsequently discharged with non-critical injuries. Randall, however, needed to be airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital but was also released after treatment.

Post the incident, Randall was charged with second-degree assault, a D Felony, and was subsequently held at Steuben County Jail without bail.

Assisting New York State Police on the scene were the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Bath Ambulance, Bath AMR, and the Avoca Fire Department. The investigation is ongoing.
