The Penn Yan Theatre Company (PYTCo) has recently received a $15,000 grant from the Rochester Area Community Foundation’s Historic Preservation program.
This grant will be applied to the purchase of vestibule doors as part of the Sampson Theatre Revitalization Project. The inclusion of a vestibule, housing a box office just inside the theater’s main doors, signifies a significant leap towards the overall mission of PYTCo, which is focused on promoting theater experiences and arts appreciation within the community.
The Sampson Theatre, a historic venue situated at 130 E Elm Street in Penn Yan, initially opened in 1910 as a vaudeville house.
With PYTCo’s revitalization endeavors, the theatre aims to transform into a prominent cultural hub in Yates County, offering a center for the arts, event spaces, and serving as a community gathering place.
