The Syracuse football team trounced Colgate 65-0 in its season opener Saturday evening in front of an announced crowd of 32,465 at the JMA Wireless Dome.
The Orange racked up 677 yards of total offense and held the Raiders to 106 while scoring all 65 points in the first three quarters.
Senior quarterback Garrett Schrader completed 18-of-24 passes for 257 yards with four touchdowns and one interception. He also ran for 40 yards on eight carries before being taken out early in the third quarter for backup redshirt sophomore Carlos Del Rio-Wilson, who completed 10-of-13 passes for 149 yards with three scores.
Sophomore running back LeQuint Allen ran for 107 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries. Junior tight end Oronde Gadsden II caught six passes for 57 yards and a touchdown. Redshirt junior wide receiver Isaiah Jones found the end zone twice, while Umari Hatcher, Kendall Long, Damien Alford, and Darrell Gill also scored.
