The audit, which spanned from July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022, revealed that out of 20 individuals assessed — consisting of 15 selected employees and the entire five-member Board of Education — four employees, or 27% of the sampled group, along with all Board members, failed to undergo the requisite annual SHP Training.

The audit emphasized the need for the District to ensure the comprehensive completion of the SHP Training by all employees and to strongly advocate for Board members to also participate. Responding to the findings, district officials conveyed their agreement with the recommendations, signaling an intent to embark on corrective measures.

Serving multiple towns within Steuben County, the Avoca Central School District operates under the oversight of an elected five-member Board, with the Superintendent of Schools, guided by the Board, and the Secretary to the Superintendent bearing the onus of organizing and confirming the fulfillment of the annual SHP Training.
