Authorities have identified the individuals involved in the recent homicide in the village of Penn Yan.
Ronald Sayler, 89, is alleged to have strangled his wife, 89-year-old Jane Sayler, using a towel at their Franklin Street residence.
The discovery came when a home health aide found Jane Sayler’s body in a bathroom Tuesday afternoon. Ronald Sayler was also located in the home, in a deteriorated health condition.
Officials have highlighted that Ronald suffers from dementia, which they suspect could have influenced the tragic incident.
Penn Yan Police Chief Thomas Dunham mentioned that their department is coordinating with the Yates County District Attorney’s Office to further examine the case.
The Sayler family has shown full cooperation during the probe, authorities said.
