Tompkins County seeks 300+ election workers for 2024

The Tompkins County Board of Elections is actively recruiting over 300 individuals to serve as election inspectors and poll site managers for three pivotal elections in 2024. The positions are slotted for the Presidential Primary, Primary Election Day on June 25, and the General Election Day on November 5.

Those taking on these roles will receive compensation of $282 for a full day’s work during the primary or general elections, and an additional $40 for attending a mandatory training session. Duties for inspectors include processing voters via an iPad, distributing ballots, and mandatory attendance at a hands-on training class.

Meanwhile, poll site managers are tasked with overseeing voting machines, setting up poll sites, and addressing voter inquiries. Applicants must be registered (or pre-registered if 17) voters in Tompkins County. While representing either the Republican or Democratic Party is preferred, it isn’t a strict requirement. An affinity for interpersonal interactions and a service-minded attitude are essential.
