Auburn police chase ends near Thruway; outcome unclear and no arrests made yet

An attempted traffic stop in Auburn on Thursday escalated into a chase reaching the Thruway, but the final outcome remains uncertain.

Auburn Police Department officers attempted to halt a Subaru on Route 34 in the late afternoon for switched license plates, according to The Auburn Citizen.

The vehicle, however, didn’t comply, endangering public safety and at one juncture veering into a ditch to dodge another car. Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck told The Citizen his department was involved and that it ended near the Thruway in Weedsport.

No arrests were made, and no injuries or property damage were reported.
