A man from Naples has been charged in connection with a July car accident on State Route 245, which involved a 13-year-old passenger.
Gregory S. Johnson, 40, faced charges on Monday, Aug. 28, including driving while intoxicated (DWI), aggravated DWI with a child in the vehicle, endangering the welfare of a child, moving unsafely from land, and operating an uninspected vehicle.
The charges emerged following an investigation into the incident which took place on July 9.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Office revealed that on the day of the incident, Johnson’s vehicle veered off the east side of Route 245 near Parish Hill Road around 5:41 p.m., hitting a tree stump before overturning.
Following the accident, Johnson was transported to a hospital by Naples Ambulance due to sustained injuries, while the 13-year-old was examined by EMS and then handed over to a guardian. Johnson is scheduled to appear in Italy Town Court to respond to the charges.
