The Outlook Apartments, a recently completed student housing project overlooking Ithaca’s planned SouthWorks District, faces potential future risks due to unauthorized changes made during its construction.
The Ithaca Voice reports that despite earlier approvals, developers Visum Development and Modern Living Rentals moved forward with the project without city permission on several modifications, which included deviations like non-compliant walkways and unapproved material changes.
Last week’s presentation to the City of Ithaca Planning Board revealed these discrepancies, evoking a strong rebuke from board members.
While developer representatives expressed a desire to find a solution, the city has the option to enforce the originally approved plans and potentially withhold renewal of the project’s temporary certificate of occupancy.
