The Tyre Town Board advanced development along Route 318, approving Water District No. 3 on Aug. 17.
Upon receiving the final nod from the state Comptroller’s Office, this district aims to provide municipal water to residences and businesses stretching from Route 414 westward to Black Brook Road.
The introduction of municipal water is anticipated to spur new development, especially as municipal wastewater treatment lines were previously established in this area.
Supervisor Beth Partee told the Finger Lakes Times that the state Comptroller’s Office has to approve the district since its costs surpass the stipulated threshold for water districts. The water supply would be facilitated by the village of Waterloo.
